Kouz to A's good both ways
Looks like the Padres have agreed to trade 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff and a minor leaguer for OF Scott Hairston and prospect OF Aaron Cunningham.
The A’s get a solid 3B, which they have been lacking. Kouzmanoff set a NL record for fielding percentage by a 3B, but still did not win a Gold Glove. I think he’s peaked as an offensive player, so you can bank on .260, 20 HR, 85 RBI on him year in and year out. Kouz is solid, but unspectacular.
PADRES: Kouzmanoff traded to A's
The Padres on Friday agreed to trade third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff to the Oakland A’s for a pair of outfielders, including former Padre Scott Hairston, a club source said. The deal, which also reportedly includes Oakland prospect Aaron Cunningham and Padres prospect Eric Sogard, is pending physicals.
Anthony Morrow: Fantasy Enigma
After watching Anthony Morrow light up the Phoenix Suns in Indian Wells, CA, I figured he was primed for a pretty good fantasy season. I don’t think my expectations were too high: 14 points, 6 boards, and 2 threes on pretty good percentages.
Golden State Warriors send Stephen Jackson to Charlotte Bobcats
Stephen Jackson, epicenter of the soap opera the Warriors’ season had become, is now a Charlotte Bobcat, traded Monday with guard Acie Law for guard Raja Bell and forward Vladimir Radmanovic.
What do you think of the Warriors unloading Stephen Jackson?
Outdoors Game, Take 2
I wasn’t a fan of the outdoors game played last year between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets, but I thought this year’s version of what appears to be an emerging pattern for preseason play wasn’t as bad as the inaugural game. There wasn’t much wind this year as there was last, but their shooting was still seemingly affected, as neither team was particularly great from the field.
Bar set low for Phoenix Suns
“Season Previews” are popping up left and right as the start of the NBA season draws near. This is the time of year when fans are filled with optimism for the upcoming season, in hopes that this is the year their favorite team wins it all. As a Suns fan, I’m enthusiastic about the team’s chance to do some serious damage this year. Unfortunately, some experts don’t share in my enthusiasm…and it’s not even close.
Towers ousted as GM; Moorad seeks more 'strategic approach'
Padres CEO Jeff Moorad thinks of Kevin Towers as “a gunslinger,” and, he added, “a masterful one, at that.” What he wants is someone who can put more of the “general” in general manager.
Amare - Suns Killer?
Bold Prediction: Suns will be a top four seed in West
The Suns have started “rebuilding”, but the overhaul hasn’t been very dramatic. Only three current Suns are over the age of 26: Steve Nash, Grant Hill, and Jason Richardson, who is only 28. Unfortunately, NBA fans only look at Grant Hill and Steve Nash, and they automatically think this team is in decline.
