The Contract Year feat. Marion/Boozer
I did this satire based blog entry for a college class this quarter. I’ve gotten good reviews on it so hopefully you guys understand the humor.
Every year random players play out of their minds in hopes of a lucrative contract at season’s end. The contract year allows mediocre players to sign long term deals after one good season. GMs are too stupid to realize that these players are only playing for a payday, so phenoms like Erick Dampier end up with huge multi year deals.
Exodus to Europe
This past off-season has been one of the most memorable in NBA history. It has raised many questions such as “I had no idea Diop was worth that much…”, “seriously, Brand? seriously?”, “why does anybody sign Ricky Davis anymore?”, and “how thin can the Clippers bench get?”, but none of these even compare to the major underlying theme of the 2008 free agency class. That theme would be, “Who’s getting offered a contract from overseas now?” (to be specific, it’s Jason Williams for $3 mill in Israel).
