All in on Jason Campbell and the hiring of Zorn

0 points
Saturday, February 9, 2008 - 8:51pm

The Redskins hired Jim Zorn as their head coach. To some this may look like a irrational decision but to me it looks like the best alternative. Zorn is a pure football coach and can learn politics fromhis friend and DC resident Steve Largent. A head coach is a leader and politician more than a coach. These skills are innate in some and can be learned over time. Mike Tomlin is an good example of the former and it seems Zorn exemplifies the latter. The Redskins are laying out the franchise to Jason Campbell. They are hiring a QB coach to modify the whole infrastructure around JC.

Camptrotter Superbowl report

0 points
Monday, February 4, 2008 - 3:47pm

The Superbowl was a interesting on many fronts. There was a lot new themes and concepts which highlight the NFL’s current status in America. There are so many unrelated aspects that I must shift the style to a bulleted format.
Kanye West said that his song “Stronger” was created to be played in stadiums.

His wish came true because that is the song the Giants stomped on the field to when they entered.
The NFL tried to make the Superbowl glamorous like the Oscars.

Is college better for coaches than the NFL

Saturday, December 15, 2007 - 12:33pm

I would have to agree. NFL as a business provides the worst working conditions ever. The attrition rate is just atrocious.
“
I think the NFL has now become too corporate. That is the best way to describe the current trend happening right now. Big money college programs have decided to up the ante and will pay more than professional teams. It looks like there an official supply vs demand scenario here.

Can a dogfighter do good?

Despite Mike’s dirty little secret no longer, he actually did a lot of good for the community. To bad we didn’t get to ever know about his positive contribution to society.

Saban references 9/11 Pearl Harbor in pet talk( As he should.......)

Tuesday, November 20, 2007 - 3:50pm

Once again, here’s a classic example of the media exposing an internal football conversation to create controvesy.
This has been the theme of 2007. Since there is so much football coverage due to our love for fantasy that normal football occurences are getting reported on and blown out of proportion by ignorance.
Saban said that sometimes it takes catastophy to rally or unite people and gave examples of 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. The Associated Press ran with it.
People forget the a football coaches main priority is to motivate his team.

Camptrotter thoughts on Week 11

0 points
Monday, November 19, 2007 - 2:18pm

TO is the MVP of the Cowboys. Think of how successful quarterbacks were when they had him compared to without. Jeff Garcia took 8 years to recover. DMac and the city of Philly have yet to recover. I am not sure Romo would be great without TO. All of the busted plays don’t work when TO is not there. z
Tom Brady is great, but Randy Moss is special. Argue all you want, but Moss was the best receiver to ever play before Oakland and now looks like that again after Oakland. It’s not that Brady made Moss good, it’s more like Oakland makes anyone bad.

America finally posted Bonds(race matters)

0 points
Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 12:14pm

Once again, America is reigning in it’s black athletes. I don’t care if Bonds did steroids or not because everyone in baseball did it. Did race play a factor? Yes, because race always plays a factor. Racism is subconscious. If people were smart enough to know their actions were racist they would stop right away. If you don’t believe me, you should read this article about how different races react to racism. The article is on WebMD so don’t try to discredit their work.

Run Ricky Run

Friday, November 16, 2007 - 12:24pm

Why I like Ricky Williams can be defined at the end of this note. He is a deeply thoughtful individual and he underscored the difference in playing football and in being an NFL football player. I remember when one of my coaches called me too smart to play football. What he meant was that I was smart enough to recognize the head games and posturing, and getting me to buy in required entitlement as oppossed to blind following. If the leader is profound, then blind following is ok.
