Bucs claim LeGarrette Blount
The News
According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, the Buccaneers have claimed running back LeGarrette Blount off waivers from the Titans.
Our View
Praised all summer by Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, he could make an impact as a power runner in Tampa Bay's thin back-field. He isn't likely to get many carries early on in the season, but could be someone to start monitoring around Week 5 or Week 6.
Jags cut DT Atiyyah Ellison
The News
Atiyyah Ellison was released by the Jaguars, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

The News
The Bills claimed guard Kraig Urbik off waivers from the Steelers Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Our View
Urbik has some upside after being taken in the third round of the 2009 draft out of Wisconsin. He's a big guard that will compete for a spot on a shoddy Buffalo line.

Our View
It sounds like Pittsburgh will be using Redman to grind out the tough yards, while keeping Mendenhall fresh throughout the game. This news could make Redman a solid handcuff to Mendenhall in touchdown-only and touchdown-heavy leagues.

The Jets have released Larry Taylor, according to the New York Daily News.
Our View
Taylor was one of the featured characters on HBO's Hard Knocks and was trying to make the team on special teams. It looks like he was beaten out by David Clowney.
Leftwich's MCL sprained, not torn
The News
ESPN.com contradicts a report by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and states that Byron Leftwich has a sprained MCL in his left knee as opposed to a torn MCL.
Our View
Leftwich is still unlikely to be ready by Week 1 of the season, and it remains to be seen whether he'll be back anytime before Week 4. The Steelers have a bye in Week 5, and Ben Roethlisberger will be back under center in Week 6.

Jairus Byrd (groin) back at practice Saturday
The News
According to Allen Wilson of the Buffalo News, Jairus Byrd (groin) returned to practice Sunday.
Our View
It's still looking like the second-year stud will play week one, even though he didn't run at full speed Saturday. Byrd's dealing with an infection related to groin surgery, but he's feeling better every day, and we'd be surprised if he's not on the field when Buffalo takes on the Dolphins next Sunday.
