MJD's knee still a question mark
The News
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sportscenter today that people around the league are skeptical of the health of Maurice Jones-Drew's knee.
Our View
His status for Week 1 is not in doubt, as he'll be in the starting lineup. Still, he may not be at 100 percent, and you have to hope that he isn't hit awkwardly in the wrong place. MJD owners should certainly own Rashad Jennings as a handcuff.
Bush seems highly unlikely to play for Raiders
The News
The Contra Costa Times' Jerry McDonald does not believe Michael Bush (hand) will be able to play in Week 1.
Our View
When asked whether or not Bush would be able to play in Week 1, McDonald responded, "No. Not this soon after surgery." It sounds pretty clear that Bush will need at least another week or two before he sees the field.
Freeman unable to fully partake in practice
The News
Josh Freeman was not a full participant in the Buccaneers' practice on Wednesday and was wearing a splint on his thumb, according to the Pewter Report.
Our View
This is a bit strange, since he was a full participant yesterday and apparently got through the practice without any pain or trouble. We still expect him to start for Tampa Bay on Sunday, though his availability isn't quite as certain today as it seemed yesterday.
Griffin questionable for Vikings
The News
Cedric Griffin (knee) is listed as questionable for the Vikings' game against the Saints on Thursday night, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Judd Zulgad.
Our View
The Vikings could really use him out there with Chris Cook out. Either way, they'll have a tough time stopping Drew Brees and gang.
Daniels likely to be limited to 20-25 snaps
The News
Owen Daniels (knee) will likely be limited to 20-25 snaps in Houston's Week 1 matchup against the Colts, according to Nick Scurfield of the team's official site.
Our View
Daniels' knee is healed, but he's still not in playing shape. He certainly deserves to be owned given his upside down the road this season, but we wouldn't suggest having him in your lineup initially.
Gailey confirms that Spiller will start
The News
Bills head coach Chan Gailey has confirmed that C.J. Spiller will start for his team on Sunday, according to WGRZ Buffalo.
Our View
Carney signs with Golden State
The News
Rodney Carney has signed with the Warriors, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Our View
The team could announce the signing sometime today. Carney is a fine athlete who will provide depth at shooting guard and small forward.
Jenkings returns to practice for Packers
The News
Cullen Jenkins has been dealing with a sore calf but returned to practice on Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Greg Bedard.
Our View
He should be good to go for the season opener against the Eagles. He has little to no IDP value but will help the Packers' overall defense.
Gerhart questionable for tomorrow night
The News
Toby Gerhart (knee) is listed as questionable for the Vikings' game against the Saints on Thursday night, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Judd Zulgad.
Our View
Albert Young will back up Adrian Peterson if Gerhart is unable to go. Still, we'd prefer Gerhart as the handcuff to Peterson entering the season.
Vilma probable for Thursday
The News
Jonathan Vilma (groin) is listed as probable for Thursday night's game against the Vikings, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan.
Our View
Tracy Porter is probable as well, while Zach Strief is questionable and Stanley Arnoux and RB Chris Ivory have been ruled out. Barring something unforeseen, Vilma will be on the field.
