Put Houston in the AL West
I think this idea came from Bob Costas. Baseball’s unbalanced schedule is out of control. The six team NL central screws up the league’s setup and this is only exacerbated by the inevitable lack of balance due to interleague play. Assuming the latter is here to stay, how do we address this problem?
Move the Astros to the AL West. Both leagues would have 15 teams. All divisions have five teams. Rangers vs. Astros makes for a nice rivalry. Schedule becomes as balanced as possible. Problems? Granted that retooling the farm system to accommodate for a different style of play might put them at a disadvantage in the short term. Fine, but Houston isn’t exactly attached to the NL. They’re an expansion team that has won one pennant in 30+ years.

AL West is fine, hehe
as an A's fan I don't need to see another team in the division but you definitely have a point. It doesn't make any sense at all that the leagues aren't balanced. it's safe to assume interleague play is here to stay because it generates so much money. i wonder what the 'Stros would think about moving to the AL.. -bB
