NFL Preseason Injury Update Thread

This post is to provide updates on significant injuries in the NFL during the preseason. Please feel free to add injuries you hear about, I’ll try also adding them to the lead post when I can.

August 10 – Cincinnatti Rookie RB Kenny Irons is out for the 2007 season with a torn ACL.

August 10 – WAS RB Clinton Portis is suffering from knee tendinitis but hopes to practice again soon.

August 11 – according to Detroit Free Press, RB Kevin Jones will not yet be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list and miss the first 6 games of the season.

August 11 – PHI TE L.J. Smith has a groin and sports hernia injury with no current timeline scheduled for his return.

August 12 – The Eagles will sit QB Donovan McNabb in their first preason game on Monday, Aug 13. McNabb is coming off knee surgery. UPDATE 8/15: McNabb will play this Friday against the Panthers, according to the team website.

August 13 – Report that New York Jet RB Thomas Jones will be out 1-2 weeks with a strained right calf muscle.

August 18 – Denver RB Travis Henry left the game early with a sprained left knee, later diagnosed as a first degree sprain of his MCL. He is listed by the coaching staff as “day to day” and should be okay for the start of the season.

August 20 – WAS QB Jason Campbell was given an MRI test yesterday after injuring his knee. He was diagnosed with a sprained knee and ais considered day to day.

August 21 – New Orleans WR Marques Colston [[http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-3/1187677252161930.xml&coll=1|said Monday a second MRI exam performed on his sore right knee Sunday revealed no structural damage]], but he is unsure if he will play Thursday night against Kansas City in the team’s fourth exhibition game.
