Free Agents the Warriors could get
I went through the list of ’08 free agents and have noted those who are restricted and unrestricted. This isn’t all of them, rather what I consider to be the cream of the crop and what Mullin should be spending 24 hours a day looking at in an effort to clean up the mess that Baron left.
From http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=2008freeagents
Restricted
Josh Smith – ATL
Emeka Okafor – CHA
Luol Deng – CHI
Ben Gordon – CHI
JR Smith – DEN
Andre Iguodala – PHI
Unrestricted
James Posey – BOS
Elton Brand – LAC
Corey Maggette – LAC
Carlos Arroyo – ORL
Gilbert Arenas – WAS
Looking at this list, the cupboard is pretty dry when you actually think about what’s feasible.
Players that I like for the Ws include Josh Smith, Iguodala, Magette, and possibly Arroyo to shore up the PG situation. Other than that, some of the times look nice (Arenas, Brand, etc) but there’s already rumblings of them signing with their current team.
What moves do you think should be made?

serious problems for the Warriors
If you haven't heard, Baron Davis has reached a verbal agreement with the LA Clippers to sign with them for 5 years and over $60 million. He didn't like Don Nelson, especially after the last game of the season when he was benched for almost the entire second half, and he feels he is undervalued as a player in Oakland. So your Warriors need to do one of two things if they want to contend in the West this coming season, and Mullin should pay attention: Either go out and bid whatever you can on Gilbert Arenas or go after Corey Maggette and trade for a PG because none of the restricted free agents are going anywhere; Kirk Heinrich is on the trading block in Chicago, and they might be willing to part with him for a Matt Barnes or Mikael Pietrus sign-and-trade deal. But the smarter long-term strategy would be to secure a cheap point guard like Carlos Arroyo, forget about Barnes and Pietrus, and find a way to move Stephen Jackson for a less thick-headed scorer when the trade deadline arrives in February so that you can develop the rookie Randolph, the 2nd year man Wright, and make Monta Ellis your star with Harrington. Biedrins has a lot of trade value right now too, and it might be useful to have him as leverage to create cap room, along with all these other moves, so that you can get a good lottery pick this coming year and pick up a huge free agent in the summer of 2010 when the likes of Dirk Nowitzki and Dwayne Wade are available (and who doesn't think Dirk wouldn't want to play with Nellie again, assuming Nelson stick around for 2 years of rebuilding?). the truth is the Warriors have taken a step back in the last conference they can afford to do that in, with my Blazers and the Clippers both making big strides towards playoff births this season. inner turmoil has cost them dearly. but hopefully they can remain competative and give the NBA good games.
