Batting helmet gives Larry Bowa a headache?
I was listening to Rome today and caught the Larry Bowa (Dodgers 3B coach) interview. He’s always interesting and this time was no exception.
First, he said that the base coaches’ box on the 3B line restricts him from getting a “good angle” when he’s trying to help runners out. Sounds like a reach to me but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.
However, he did mention that he’s not in favor of the protective batting helmets that they’re being required to wear. He said that it’s cumbersome and it gives him a headache. C’mon Larry! As if there’s that big of a difference with the batting helmet as opposed to the soft cap. The coaches helmets are like the souvenir kind anyways so it’s not as if it’s cutting off circulation or anything.
