didn't see that coming. Only took her about 90 min to do it. Sharapova looks very dangerous, obviously.

Ivanovic ends the other Williams' run

Ivanovic topped Venus this evening 7-6, 6-4. Serena was ousted yesterday by Jankovic, so the Williams are going home, the Serbians go on.

Hantuchova moves on

in straight sets over Radwanska (whoever that is). So now the semis are set on the women's side: Sharapova v. Jankovic (this will be an excellent match) Hantuchova v. Ivanovic

Sharapova first semifinalist

easily over Jankovic 6-3, 6-1. Granted, Jankovic has a bad back, but Sharapova looks primed to win this darn thing. She's really at the top of her game right now.

the finals are set!

Sharapova v. Ivanovic. Sharapova had a relatively easy (or she made it look easy) winning against Jankovic. Ivanovic had a tough semi, losing the first set 6-0, then was down 2-0 in the second. She battle back to win it in three sets. Wow. What intestinal fortitude she showed.

Great match, good win by Sharapova

Ivanovic challenged her, but her will and skills beat back Ana's admirable try. Ivanovic had a chance to win the first set, but Maria came back and took the first set and the second set was easier as she won in two sets. This is her 3rd Grand Slam title and she'll remain at 5th in the world as will Ivanovic at #2 after the tournament. I predict Maria will win another Slam this year, either the US open or Wimbledon and Ivanovic is good enough to make another final or two, not sure if she's going to win one yet, but she should continue to give herself opportunities.
