Aussie Open '08: Men's draw updates
I’m starting this so folks can add updates and their commentary as we head into the final week of the tourney.
The men’s quarters are set. The matches are:
Federer v. Blake
Ferrer v. Djokovic
You obviously have to like Federer to beat Blake and Djokovic to win and face each other in the semis. But I’m rooting for Blake.
Jarko Niemenen v. Rafael Nadal (today)
Tsonga v. Youzhny
Wow, Nadal got the hook up with this draw. He’s got a smooth path the finals.

Well, that's that
Nadal comes back to win the first set, 7-5, then coasts to a straight sets victory. On a surprising note, Tsonga defeats Youzhny in straights. The 38th ranked player is certainly the surprise of the tourney. I don't think he gets past Nadal, but you never know. Blake, Federer, and Djokovic are on tonight. Should be an excellent night of tennis Down Under.January 23, 2008 - 4:00pm

sorry for late update!
Djokovic handles Ferrer and Federer takes care of my boy James Blake, both matches ending in straight sets. Neither loser went down quietly, but it sets up one hell of a semi between Djokovic and Federer. I expect a straight up thriller in that one but as always, how can you go against Federer? Although I'll be rooting for Djokovic. Go Serbia! (What did you think? There are no Americans left!)January 24, 2008 - 1:49pm

wow
call me shocked. Tsonga takes out Nadal in three sets. He's extremely dangerous and will be playing loose against Federer or Djokovic, the winner of which will be revealed tonight.Reply
