About FSM

What does FSM stand for?
FSM stands for Fantasy Sports Matrix. The word ‘Matrix’ represents the community of fans.

What is the purpose of a social network?
Social networks focus on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact.

What is the purpose of this site?
To allow fantasy and sports fans a destination where they could express their opinions, share in community, and have fun in an interactive environment.

Why did we make FSM?
We created FSM because we believe fantasy sports is more than just about statistics, leagues, and drafts, but about the social phenomenon that drives it. The beauty of fantasy sports lies in the conversations, insights, and sharing of information between sports fans. We exist to capture that experience, leverage the wisdom, and deliver unparalleled sports coverage to the world.

I’m a new user. Where’s the best place to start?
You can go directly to your Dashboard tab, which is located in the upper-left corner of each page. From your dashboard, you can edit your profile, change your avatar, join groups, and take one of several actions to begin participating in the community, e.g. submit a blog post, article links, videos, polls, photos, or view and comment on discussion forums.

What are points and why should I get them?
Users gain points through actions on the site such as writing blog posts or commenting on an article. You not only have the opportunity to have your sports opinion heard, but also to gain points. The more points you have on the site, the more respected by the community you will be. You can try your hand at wagering your points on weekly picks.

Does FSM cost anything to join?
FSM is absolutely free! Our view is that the best information is that which is shared by fans and so we want to provide the best interface to allow for the free flow of information.

How do I invite my friends to join?
You can invite your friends from the Invite page from your dashboard. You gain points for inviting each friend who joins the site. Once your friends are on the site, they are automatically added to your friends list and you can even create a group of just your friends so you can chat and communicate with one another about sports.

Account

How do I create an account?
You can create an account by clicking on the Create an Account! link on any page. You will then be asked to create a user name and password that will allow you to log in and use the site.

How Do I Log Into FSM?
You can log in to FSM by clicking the login link on the site located at the top left of every page. You will then be prompted to enter your username and password that you created.

I signed up, but I didn’t receive my password via email. What do I do?
Make sure to check your spam folder if you are not receiving our e-mails. If you’re still experiencing trouble you can contact our technical support at support@fantasysportsmatrix.com. Please include your information, including name, email address, and user name you have chosen.

Can I change my FSM username?
Once you have created your account, you may not change your username. Sorry for any inconveniences. This is to preserve the integrity of the site and the identity of users.

Can I change my FSM password?
You may change your password by visiting the “My Settings” link at the top of every page. You can change your password in the “Account Information” area.

I forgot my password, now what?
You can visit the Lost Password page if you forget your password.

How do I cancel my account?
If you would like to cancel your account, please send an email to support@fantasysportsmatrix.com with ‘Account Cancellation Request’ in the subject line.

Coverage

What sports are covered?
We cover all major sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, College Sports, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, and more.

What if I want FSM to cover a new sport?
All you need to do is let us know what sport you would like for FSM to cover by sending us an email at feedback@fantasysportsmatrix.com. You may also use our discussion boards to post a thread to the “Feedback, Feature Requests, and Comments” forum.

What types of content are offered?
FSM is powered by the following types of user-generated sports content:
• Submitted Links
• Submitted Videos (from Youtube, Metacafe, and more)
• Blogs
• Polls
• Photos
• Forums

Who covers these sports?
You control your experience as sports fans on FSM. Your voice is important and heard on FSM. Most of the content on the FSM site is user-and community-generated. Express your sports passion!

Picks

What is a pick?
A pick is a collection of simple multiple-choice questions focused on picks and predictions.

What sports can I compete in?
We offer Picks for a variety of sports. Simply visit the Picks section and take a look!

Statistics and Rankings

What stats do FSM users have?
All users will have four main statistics: Ranking, EXP, Level, Fancash, and Win/Loss.

What does Level represent?
The possible user levels are: Waterboy, Practice Squad, Bench Warmer, Rookie, Starter, Veteran, All Star, Superstar, Hall of Fame, and Legend.

What does Ranking represent?
A user’s rank is determined by a variety of factors influenced by competitive and community actions.

What does Fancash represent?
Fancash represents the amount of points that a user currently has.

What does Win/Loss represent?
The Win/Loss record is exactly as it states, it’s a running total of questions right and questions wrong from picks that the user has completed.

What if a user spams the site by creating content just to earn Fancash?
Content that is considered by spam will be reported and moderated by the community. There is a ‘Report Abuse’ link for all content posts.

I noticed an error in my stats, what should I do?
If you notice an error on the site, please notify us by email at feedback@fantasysportsmatrix.com. Please describe the error you have noticed in as much detail as possible.

Where can I check my stats?
You can check your stats on the Rankings page.

How often are the rankings updated?
Rankings are continually updated.

User Profiles

What are user profiles?
All users get their own profile pages displaying the latest content, groups, statistics, wall messages, and more.

Can I leave messages on user walls?
Absolutely. You may click on the avatar or user name link of the user you wish to leave a message for, then click on the “Write on Wall” link under their avatar.

How do I upload an avatar/photo?
Click on “My Settings” in the upper menu bar. In the Settings page, you can change your avatar.
How do I change my status message?
You can change your status message in your Dashboard.

Can I make my profile private?
We are an open community and thus do not allow users to make their profiles private.

Groups

What are Groups?
Groups are for sports fans to connect with other fans of similar favorite teams, athletes, colleges, regions, and fantasy leagues. Groups are created by users and can be public or private.

How do I create them?
To create a group, go to the Groups page and then click the Create New Group link.

Can I delete a group?
If you would like to delete a group, please send an email to support@fantasysportsmatrix.com.

How do I join a group?
To join a group, click on the “Join Group” button which is located underneath the group’s logo. This only appears in groups which you have not joined.

How do I leave a group?
To leave a group, click on the “Leave Group” button which is located underneath the group’s logo. This only appears in groups which you have already joined.

How do I post content to a group?
When creating content, you’ll see a link at the bottom of the content creation screen which will allow you post content to the group(s) that you have joined.

Dashboard

What is the Dashboard?
The Dashboard is your home page on FSM. You can check your inbox, invite friends, join groups, manage your content, and proceed to take a community action, such as creating an avatar, blogging, submitting and voting on article links, posting or commenting on discussion forums, submitting videos, creating a poll.

What can I do with the Dashboard?
The Dashboard allows you to control your experience on FSM. You can check you messages in the Message Center. You can manage your content and that of your friends and group members. You can take an action such as adding a blog post, running a poll, and submitting article links and videos. You can also invite friends to FSM, check which competitions you are enrolled in, and edit your profile in your Dashboard.

Links

What is the Links section?
The Links section features links and stories submitted and voted on by the users of FSM. All users may submit links.

How do I submit a link?
To submit a link, simply click on the quicklinks (once logged in) at the top or go to the Dashboard and click on Post Link.

How many times can I vote on a link?
All users may only vote once on a link.

How many links can I submit?
You may submit as many links as you want.

How do I edit a link?
Select “edit” above your link or go to the manage content tab in your Dashboard to edit your link. You can also edit all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

How do I delete a link?
Select delete above your poll or go to the manage content tab in your Dashboard to delete your poll. You can also delete all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

Videos

What is the Videos section?
This is where users can submit sports videos from all over the web, via the embedding capabilities of Youtube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, and more.

How do I submit a video?
From your dashboard, click on “New video” and you will be taken to a form where you enter a title for your video. Next, copy and paste the ‘embed’ link provided by the video site.

Can I tag videos?
You can tag your videos so that your topic can be searched by the key word elements of your topic. For instance, if you are blogging on Lebron James, you may enter on the tag line: “Lebron James” and “Cleveland Cavaliers” (without quotes).

How do I edit a video post?
Simply go to your video post and click on the “edit” link above the post. You can edit the post and then make sure to hit “submit” to save your changes. You can also edit all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

How do I delete a video post?
Simply go to your video posting and click on the “delete” link above the post. You will be asked if you want to delete the post. Click “yes” if you are sure you want to delete the post and “no” if you do not want to delete the post.

Can users comment on video posts?
Yes, just click on the “comment” link located below any video post to comment on it.

Blogs

What is the Blog section?
This is the weblog section of FSM where users can log their opinions on various sports topics.

How do I write a blog post?
From your dashboard, click on “New blog” and you will be taken to a form where you enter a title for your blog post. You may begin writing your blog in the text box. When you are finished, select submit.

Can I tag blog posts?
You can tag your blog posts so that your topic can be searched by the key word elements of your topic.

How do I edit a blog post?
Simply go to your blog posting and click on the “edit” link above the post. You can edit the post and then make sure to hit “submit” to save your changes. You can also edit all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

How do I delete a blog post?
Simply go to your blog posting and click on the “delete” link above the post. You will be asked if you want to delete the post. Click “yes” if you are sure you want to delete the post and “no” if you do not want to delete the post.

Can users comment on blog posts?
Yes, just click on the “comment” link located below any blog post to comment on it.

Polls

What is the Polls section?
The polls section of FSM is where users can submit polls on sports-related topics and vote on user-generated polls.

What kind of polls can I submit?
Any! As long as the polls is sports-related. You can take a look at our current poll section to get an idea of poll topics.

How many times can I vote on a poll?
You may vote on a poll only once.

How do I create a Poll?
Simply go to your Dashboard and select “Post New Poll.”:http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/post/poll

Can users comment on Polls?
Yes, not only may you vote on a poll, you can explain your choice or express your opinion about the poll or your selection. Just select “comment” beneath the poll to add a comment.

How do I delete my poll?
Select delete above your poll or go to the manage content tab in your Dashboard to delete your poll. You can also delete all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

Photos
What is the Photos section?
In the Photos section users can upload sports pictures which they like. These pictures can then be interacted with by the rest of the community.

How do I submit a Photo?
Simply go to your Dashboard and select “Post New Photo.”:http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/post/photo

Can users comment on Photos?
Yes, just select “comment” beneath the Photo to add a comment.

How do I delete my Photo?

Forums

What is the Forums section?
The forums section is where users can post discussions on topics on sports or fantasy sports that interested them. You may start a discussion thread or you may also comment on a discussion thread started by someone else. Click here to go to the discussions forum.

How do I post a forum thread?
There are two main ways to post a forum thread. You may do so from your Dashboard by clicking “post a forum thread”:http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/post/forum or by going to the Forums tab directly and clicking the “post a forum thread”:http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/post/forum button on the discussions forum page.

How do I edit my forum post?
Simply go to your forum post and click on the “edit” link above the post. You can edit the post and then make sure to hit “submit” to save your changes. You can also edit all of your content posts via the Dashboard, each post listing has an edit link.

How is the Forum section organized?
The Forum section is organized first by the general forums section, which is where announcements are made, and comments and feedback from users can be posted. After the general forums section, the forum is organized by sport. If you think that we’re missing a forum, please let us know by sending an email to feedback@fantasysportsmatrix.com or through the feedback form in the left sidebar of your Dashboard.

How do I become a moderator?
If you would like to become a moderator, please send us email to support@fantasysportsmatrix.com
