Pitching on just three days rest , the Mets stud ace Johan Santana showed why he was worth every penny of the $137.5 million contract he signed back in March.
With the Mets wild card hopes all but done, Santana pitched a complete game shut out, striking out nine, in route to the Mets 3-0 win over Florida. With Milwaukee losing, both the Mets and Brewers go into the final day of the regular season tied for the NL wild card lead.
He would easily have 20 wins this year if the Mets bullpen hadn’t blown something like eight quality starts he had this season.
