BOSTON – He has become a punch line in some ways with his over-the-top opinions, but give Hank Steinbrenner his due: from the day he was talked out of trading for Johan Santana, Boss Hank was saying that Joba Chamberlain would be the Yankees’ Josh Beckett.

didnt see this one coming i was very critical of George Jr. (Hank) when he was demanding Joba be a starter. it seem like the right thing to do but it was. that being said, I’m also pretty sure that Hank got lucky with this one. good thing for him too because Joba is impressive. he’s in Lincecum’s tier yet but he’s definitely right below.

It’s all about the team Junior looked at the rotation and thought a risk was worth taking. I have to say, he was most def right. The better question is: how do the Yankees still have such mediocre starting pitching all the time?
