The suspense about who will line up under center in the season opener Sept. 7 in Indianapolis ended Monday when coach Lovie Smith anointed Kyle Orton the Bears’ starting quarterback. In earning the job, Orton outdueled Rex Grossman in a competition that began in the offseason.

finally why did they resign this guy anyway? how many interceptions throwing off your back foot and overthrows on a 5 yd route in the flat do we have to see? he started off good in the bears super bowl season and now his psyche so messed up he cant come back. orton wont do too much better without any weapons at RB or WR, maybe except hester but he has been a DB and returner his whole life

They re-signed Orton because he’s consistent and a better leader than Grossman.
