Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons
This serious is back and forth. Just when I finally thought the Celtics may have hit their stride, Detroit takes the momentum back and shifts the pressure on Boston to win at home. I really like Rajon Rondo’s play during the 2008 Playoffs, as a rookie he has gained nearly three seasons of experience in one as the starting point guard for one of the league’s hottest teams. I don’t know how this series will end up, it’s hard to predict especially when both teams are not that consistent in their play. The series has been sloppy and yet discipline at the same time. A lot of broken plays, however both teams display a committment to defense. The defense in the East is a lot higher caliber than the defense in the West. Billups looks like his hamstring is getting stronger by the game, at this point in the season everyone is playing injured. I would look to Rasheed Wallace to step up and take on more responsibility, the Pistons have so many weapons who have been playing together for years. Rasheed is definitely one of my favorite players of all time. Rip Hamilton is shooting really well too and Maxseale is the ex-factor driving the Pistons. The Celtics have been playing aggressive on the defensive end however offensively they are still in a state of disarray. Over the offseason Rivers needs to do some research on some effective offenses. Even some basic ones would work, Double screens for Ray Allen, post up isolations for KG. Rondo and KG would be really effective if they can start working a pick and roll. Rondo has enough speed and KG is versatile shooting the j or possible taking it to the hole. This is a battle, series locked dead even 2-2. At this point either of these teams deserves to be in the NBA Finals. The keys for Detroit are to hit their jump shots, keep the ball moving, and tire out the Celtics on defensive end. The keys for the Celtics are to execute offensive plays, get Ray Allen involved and KG, Pierce needs to get his touches also. Rondo needs to be aggressive, and overall the Celtics need to play physical playoff basketball. The Pistons have been this far before and have more experience, so the Celtics just need to want it more.
