Jackson vs. Griffin Review

Wow! What a fight! My hat goes off to Forrest on winning the judges. This was a very technical display by Griffin. He has improved greatly in the last year and looks as hungry as ever. He utilized low leg kicks to the Jackson’s front leg in order to slow Rampage down and take some of the power off his punches. Jackson’s power was still impressive. Jackson looked like he landed the harder shots however Griffin had better ring generalship. Griffin imposed his will on Jackson and forced the champ to fight Griffin’s stick and move style. Forrest’s movement looked great and he looked a lot more polished. Forrest’s ground game also was extremely impressive. He kept Rampage on his back in the second round and nearly submitted him, sinkng in a triangle and near key lock. Rampage being the beast he is was able to get out of them and I thought was going to end the fight by knockout. Jackson hits like a mule but Griffin has a tough chin and a lot of heart and kept firing back. Griffin through some good knees and continued to throw the leg kick which I think was what changed the fight. Leg kicks are one of the most under rated attacks in MMA. And muay thai fighter will tell you that it is an essential fundamental of one’s arsenal. Overall great fight, I am eager for the rematch and believe Jackson deserves one right away without fighting anyone in between. I am happy with the decision and am excited to see my boy Silva fight later this month.

can’t believe the decision did Griffin even scratch Jackson’s face? he outpointed Jackson but he definitely didn’t hurt him. call me naive but I wouldn’t have given Griffin points for trying and failing at the key lock, triangle, etc. since when do fighters get points for trying? -bB

BS Jackson got robbed, it was a ridiculous decision. Clearly the UFC was trying to craft their “cinderella story.”

i like it i mean griffin did land more leg kicks, but let’s be honest Jackson did not bring his A-game, i think that if he stepped into his punches he could knock forrest out, forrest won the fight fair and square, i would have thought it was rigged if it went to Jackson, when you’re the champ you gotta fight like a champ, forrest brought it, jackson didnt, i still think rampage is the better fighter but forrest deserved the win..but lets be honest Anderson Silva will have the 205 title in no time
