Pat Riley should retire

“I should write a check to each season-ticket holder and send them back the money — at least for (this one)”

- Pat Riley after complaining about his players’ lack of effort in a 108-83 home loss to Toronto.

Pat Riley should retire tomorrow. He should no longer be associated with an NBA team. He clearly has lost any desire to coach a bad team, evidenced by his recent announcement that he will miss a few games to scout college players (http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/buzz/heats-riley-leave-team-scout-lottery...). I’d rather watch college basketball than coach a historically bad NBA team, but I’m not being paid millions of dollars to be a coach.

Riley has obviously quit on his team, probably the worst thing a coach could do to a team. And now he blasts the players, through the media no less, for their lack of effort? What a hypocrite. Riley should go away and preserve what’s left of his legacy. And he should divide up his salary for the year and return it to the fans, because he has been mailing it in for months and leading an epic two year collapse from best to worst.
