Or should I say Fear the Beaver???
Perhaps the dam break heard ‘round the world was the USC Trojans’ season. Losing To Oregon State?? Who would have thought? Why does USC do this almost every year now? The college football season’s first true shocker occurred last night as Oregon State beat USC 27-21. Now it gives hope to PSU fans like myself that there might be a chance (provided they do their part) to get in the BCS fray. Oh…did I mention that Penn State beat Oregon State three weeks ago 45-10?? What gives?? I’ll have more to say on this in my College Football Preview….

-Baseball chokers-rejoice!!! Mets and Brewers…you have a chance this weekend. At least there are two races to get excited about that don’t involve NASCAR: The NL wild card and the AL Central. There’s also the business of solving the NL East race as well. Just when you think the ChiSox have their business taken care of, the Minnesota Twins do unthinkable: the sweep the ChiSox!! Now the Twins have to hang on…and do a little praying this weekend. The Phillies must do likewise. If you were the Cubs, I again pose the question: Who would you rather see? The Phillies? Mets? Brewers? Or the Dodgers? I suppose at this point, it shouldn’t matter. if you’re going to the World Series, then you have to play and beat two of these teams anyway.
-I’m not sure how true this is , but I read that things were so bad in Seattle that a player threatened to “knock out” Ichiro Suzuki. I know losing breeds this kind of stuff, but why think or do that to your best player? We’ll see if this story gets legs….
-Interesting that NY Giants WR Plaxico Burress is suspended for a game for missing a practice (he didn’t communicate with the team). With all of the cell phone technology, Burress couldn’t call?
-Here at home, it’s Dallas week. Deadskins vs. Cowgirls. If you hate both, you root for the ground…
Can you believe they’re playing hockey preseason games???
Check out more great stuff this weekend with my college and pro football previews and recaps. Also, I will be posting my year ending baseball awards and recaps.
Hopefully…there won’t be a river of upsets…
Time to give respect where it’s due, ESPN and other East Coast bias sources! Pac-10 is legit!

the pac 10 still isnt that good but not that bad. usc always steps its game up against good ranked teams but always sleepwalk some bottom-tiered teams. ppl talk about pete carroll being a big game coach but you have to win these kind of games too. there was no way usc was going to blow out everybody left in their schedule. every good team has to play close games and even in the leinart-bush era, they won nailbiters against washington state, oregon state, arizona, and ucla (not good teams)
