I personally would like to thank the Ottawa Senators for their fantastic efforts in the 4-game playoff series against the Pens. 16 goals to 5 goals.

Nice work by Heatley, Spezza, and a partial-Alfredsson.

Volchenkov, Donovan, and Gerber actually played well.

Gerber was a beast. The Pens should have scored 30 goals if not for him.

As for Bryan Murray aka Sylvester the Cat, I hear the Ottawa Country Club is accepting tee times this time of year. In your foursome you can call up Don Brennan, the clown that wrote that the Sens should test Crosby’s ankle with a two-handed swing, Dany Heatley, who I personally wouldn’t let drive the cart due to his previous driving history, and John Paddock, the coach YOU fired and then took over his job, led the team to the worst record in the NHL after Jan. 1, and led to a sweep in the first round of the playoffs.

As for the Pens.

Defense was sick.

The USS Hal Gill is a formidable foe to any scoring winger. I enjoy everytime some joke player gets into his face. The ol’ USS just stares down 2 stories and laughs.

Orpik has really stepped his game up, he handles the puck well and works well with Gonchar because of his ability to stay at home on the defensive end, be physical, and for a guy that has no offensive presence, he sure can skate.

What do French Astronauts Drink? LeTang. He sure didn’t play like a rookie in his first postseason. He is a solid force and the tandem of him and USS is nasty.

Gonchar is Gonchar. A leader, ambassador, and landlord. He scores, teaches, whatever needs to be done.

Whitney’s highlight came in the whooping he handed out to Wade Redden in Game 1. His passing inside the defensive zone is shaky, but he’ll be alright.

Scuderi is like a rock. Enough so that I think Bob Seger sang it to him when he was born.

The offense needs nothing written about them. Everyone knows them and their exploits.

MVP:

Marc-Andre Fleury. He’s grown up before our eyes. He was incredibly solid.
