Joe Buck is a casual baseball fan

We all know Joe Buck. Even non-sports fans know who Joe Buck is. He’s the guy that calls all the big events for Fox such as the World Series and Super Bowl. Personally, I always thought Joe was overbearing and uninteresting but obviously Fox didn’t feel the same way because they’ve been cramming him down my ear for what seems like 10 years now.

Thankfully, Joe Buck has gotten himself into a bit of a mess with his latest comments. If you haven’t heard, check it out now:

Sarcastic or not, you can’t be the “voice of baseball” and proceed to go on a nationally syndicated radio show and tell everyone that you can’t stand watching a baseball game. I hate to bring it up, but the great (and late) Jack Buck is probably looking down on Joe and wondering why the apple fell so far from the tree.

More on why Joe Buck is horrible. Plain and simple he doesn’t seem like he’s passionate about sports. Especially baseball, how can you complain about the length of the game (2:30 to 3 hours) when it’s comparable to that of other major sports? Last time I checked, NBA and NFL games are close to 3 hours so it shouldn’t be news to Joe that a MLB game takes about the same time. As for the amount of games, it isn’t as if the schedule was just expanded to 162 games! Give me a break, this is a microcosm of what’s wrong with sports today, there are too many suits running the show.

I apologize because this blog is more rant based then anything. Once I’m able to internalize the dumbness of his comments then I’ll be more apt to constructively criticize the whole issue. Until then I’ll take some solace in figuring that Fox can’t afford to have this idiot call the World Series again.

I wonder how Tim McCarver is going to feel?

idiot exactly. you don’t be the voice of baseball (at least Fox baseball coverage) and go on and criticize the sport you’re calling. Stupid move.

Joe Schmuck What a poser

?! What qualifies someone to call baseball games? I would say that it’s a passion for the sport which inspires a person to share their knowledge. His dad was a much better announcer.
