French Open finals figure to be intriguing

So the women’s final is set. It will be Dinara Safina against Ana Ivanovic where both women will be seeking their first Grand Slam title. It’s a surprise to see Safina here, especially the way she has come out of nowhere to beat the likes of Maria Sharapova and others in commanding fashion. She will join her brother Marat as a grand slam champion if she wins on Saturday.

Ivanovic will be gunning for her first grand slam championship. The talented Serb has run through everyone to get here, including her countrywoman, Jelena Jankovic to become a finalist. She is in great form, and had to endure a roller-coaster three set match to beat Jankovic. Now, she’s on the verge of adding a grand slam to her trophy case.

On the men’s side, the Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic matchup will be sure to be great match. Rafael Nadal is trying to win the tournament for the 4th year in a row, while Djokovic is playing great and has as good a shot as anyone to knock Nadal off his perch. This is must-see tennis.

In the other semi, Roger Federer is seeking the only grand slam to elude him, for the career grand slam. He beat a very game Gonzalez in the quarterfinals, the Chilean finally succumbing in the 4th set. He’s facing the upstart and fan favorite in the Frenchman Gael Monfils. No one expected him to be here but he’ll have all of France and the Roland Garros faithful cheering him on against Federer. That will be a very interesting match to watch.

Au revoir and enjoy the matches!
